Hello, my name is Meghan. I’m a registered professional counsellor - candidate with the Canadian Professional Counsellor Association (CPCA). I have a diploma in professional counselling as well as specialized training in ADHD life coaching and some somatic (body-based) techniques for clients who are chronically stressed and overwhelmed.
I am also a partner, step-parent, daughter, sister and friend. Like my clients, I am doing my best everyday to learn about myself and my loved ones, and working to give myself compassion and grace when challenges show up, as they inevitably do.
I don’t believe perfection is possible, or even healthy, though I once strived for it. I believe in people. I believe in our resilience, creativity, and love for each other, and the world we live in.
Things that bring me creativity & joy include making and sharing meals with friends and family, expressive arts and crafts like music, painting, making mixed media art and sewing. I like reading and working in my garden.
As a counsellor and in my daily life, I aim to embody warmth, empathy, humour and honesty.
It’s deeply important to me to be an ally to people who find themselves at intersections of marginalized and/or racialized identities in white supremacist, capitalist, and patriarchal culture. I myself exist at some of those intersections, though I acknowledge my privileges as a thin, white, educated woman. I'm committed to unlearning the colonial overculture and working in community towards justice and peace. I welcome feedback and corrections made in good faith.
